INFORMATION ISSUED BY U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR DELAWARE ON DEC. 15: NEW CASTLE MAN SENTENCED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

The U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's office for Delaware issued the following press release:

Colm F. Connolly, United States Attorney for the District of Delaware, announced today that Anthony Brenner, age 23, of New Castle, Delaware, was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court, before the Honorable Sue L. Robinson, to 46 months incarceration and three years supervised release for possession of child pornography.

On April 15, 2005, FBI agents conducting an undercover online investigation downloaded from Brenner's computer, through a file sharing program, child pornography images which included depictions of prepubescent girls performing sex acts with adult men.

On June 6, 2005, the FBI executed a search warrant at Brenner's residence and seized his computer, finding it to contain the child pornography.

At the time of sentencing Brenner was detained without bail.

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
