NSW: State MPs to follow federal super drop
New South Wales Premier BOB CARR says it's inevitable commonwealth changes to reduce
parliamentarians' superannuation contributions will be reflected on a state level.
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD announced yesterday he would adopt the Opposition Leader
MARK LATHAM's policy of cutting the super scheme of federal politicians.
Mr CARR says it's inevitable that state MPs' super entitlements will fall into line
with that of their federal counterparts, despite being part of a separate scheme.
But Mr CARR's told ABC Radio it's arguable that the reforms could reduce the capacity
to entice some people into politics mid-career.
