NSW: Police capture prison escapee
SYDNEY, Dec 1 AAP - Police captured and arrested a 19-year-old prison escapee last
night on the state's mid north coast.
The man was caught speeding, exceeeding the limit by 24kph on the Pacific Highway at
Kempsey, police said.
When police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off and the pursuit ended in
Macksville, to the north.
Police arrested the man and later discovered he had escaped from Parklea Correctional
Centre early yesterday morning.
The man was charged with escaping lawful custody, stealing a motor vehicle and driving offences.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in Port Macquarie Court this morning, police said.
